Before coming to the city, many former interns said you would fall in love and never want to leave. Although I knew the city was fabulous, I never really expected to fall head over heels for the constant noise, honking, the smell of corner falafel stands, the packed people on a 4-foot sidewalk, the amazing vibe from passionate fellow New Yorkers, trains running through tunnels under the city, buildings that reach the tips of the sky, the many different cultures, heritages and faces of the city and of course the wonderful fashion the city has to offer.
Having said that, there is a code that many Fashionistas feel they need to follow. The code is looking ready for the runway every time you step into the office. If you’re a fiend for fashion, this may be the best thing ever, if fashion comes as a struggle for you, it could cause a bit of stress. Fear not though, this week’s Fashionista show us how she takes her casual look and dresses it up perfectly for the office.

This Fashionista, a swimmer at Georgetown doing a journalism internship wore a fabulous patterned black and white dress. The colors give a very conservative vibe but still make a fashion statement. The pleated neckline and cinched waistline give it the perfect detail. This Fashionista pulled a classic black blazer over her dress, a key piece in every intern Fashionista’s closet. A small side brown bag is perfect for a quick lunch break out instead of lugging your work tote around the city. The statement piece in this look is definitely the shoes, definitely understated but draw attention to the eye once your gaze leaves the dress.

I could go on and on about shoes, one look around the many different heels pounding the sidewalks of the city and you can easily spot the shoeaholics. Heels can be high or low, neutral or bright, open or closed toes, wedged or wooden heeled, on and on and on. These lovely cream peep toe Cole Hans were simply stunning. The cream color makes them versatile with just about any look and makes them not too popping for the office. The giant bow on the toe gives it just the feminine touch while it has an eyelet trim around the shoe and bow trim.
While the summer has gone by and we only have about three weeks left as summer interns, don’t forget to step into style and try to get that pair of statement shoes that are sure to make your outfit. Good luck this summer and get your heel in the door!
