What is your favorite part of being a TEEN VOGUE intern?
My favorite part of being a TEEN VOGUE intern is working along side the TEEN VOGUE team. It is such a cohesive and friendly environment with creative energy constantly flowing, which makes every day in the office so enjoyable and interesting.
How did you land this internship?
A family friend of mine put me in contact with a member of the marketing team, so I sent her my resume, came in for an interview, and here I am!
What advice would you give aspiring students on landing an internship?
Be persistent! While you may think following up can make you seem like a pest at times, it is key because it shows your interest in landing the job and can set you apart from the rest of the crowd.
What do you believe is the most important quality to possess in order to be a successful intern?
I definitely think the most important quality that an intern should possess is to be proactive! Go above and beyond what your supervisors are asking of you. While you are there to learn, you are also there to help out and anything you can do to help out members of a team in a busy office is always appreciated!
How did your passion for fashion transpire?
I have always believed that fashion is one of the most important outlets towards expressing one’s personality, but my appreciation for fashion transpired while I was studying abroad in Paris last fall. Paris takes fashion to a whole new level, and made me appreciate it as more of an art, in addition to a way of expressing yourself.
Who are your favorite designers?
I love Tibi, Milly, Yumi Kim, Amanda Uprichard, and Parker to name a few. I love their simple, yet colorful designs that are perfect for day and night.
What are your favorite sources for fashion inspiration?
I look on the Internet, especially the TEEN VOGUE fashion bloggers, for inspiration and ways to put together different looks for different occasions. Most recently though, I’ve been looking at my fellow interns and co-workers around the TEEN VOGUE office for ideas and inspiration!
What is your signature look?
I’d say my signature look would be preppy with a twist. Growing up in New England, I’ve always gravitated towards the J. Crew chino shorts and ballet flats, but I make sure to add my own flare, whether it is a fun necklace or a scarf.
What is your dream job?
While I’m not exactly sure at the moment, I know I definitely want to have a job that involves constantly meeting and being around different people. As a psychology major at school, I am interested in the way people think and interact with each other, so a job that involves all these different aspects would be ideal!
